1. Cut off the collar directly underneath the seam.
2.Determine how deep you want to go.
Try on the t-shirt to gauge how deep you want the neck opening to be. While wearing the t-shirt, look in the mirror and mark the spot you’d like the point of the V with a pin.
Dig up your favourite V-necked t-shirt and use it as a guide.
Fold your crewneck t-shirt vertically in half, making sure that the back neck seam, side seams and shoulders line up. Do the same with your V-neck t-shirt and place it directly over the crewneck t-shirt. Line everything up as much as possible.
Make a mark on the crewneck t-shirt that corresponds to the point of the V on your V-neck t-shirt. Put your v-neck t-shirt away.
3. Fold your t-shirt vertically in half so that the side seams match up and the V can be cut symmetrically. Take your scissors and shape the v-neck by cutting in a straight line from your marked V point to the HSPs (high shoulder points).
Be careful to only cut through the front side of the t-shirt.
4. Try your new v-neck t-shirt on and determine if you need to shape the neckline any further. Aim for a smooth and even neck opening.
5. To turn your v-neck t-shirt into a scoop neck, simply round off the v-point and pull the neck opening down a bit. It should naturally curl up a little.
